Comcast Careers

Comcast wanted to do a complete redesign of its Career site.  The site is a gateway for people interested in applying for jobs at Comcast. They wanted the new Career site to be more intuititive and user friendly than the one they had been using over the past decade. The design should reflect

the Comcast culture and its dedication to diversity.

Ease of Navigation

One way of improving the intuitiveness of the site is to organize the information architecture in a way that makes sense to the average user. We constantly asked the question, “What are the userʼs needs when searching for employment?” The goal was to reduce the number of clicks it takes to get to the necessary information. We wanted to make it as easy as possible to not only do a job search, but to also see other important information that potential employees would like to know about working at Comcast.

Branding & Style

Comcast provided us with a styleguide for the website

user interface. A strong emphasis was placed on

accessibility, so we made a conscious effort to be ADA

Compliant. For the redesign we wanted a modern look

and theme that reflects the Comcast culture.

Foundation

We created a homepage that pulled in all of the

visual elements from the styleguide. We spent a

lot of time and effort desiging the homepage,

because it would inform the style of the other

pages of the website. We used our site map key to

create a header menu for easy navigation for both

external users searching for job opportunities and

internal Comcast employees looking for other

opportunites within the company. We wanted to

show the rich culture of Comcast through original

photography of actual settings. The designed

layout is clean and allows the user to read and take

in information efficiently.

Work Culture

Other parts of the site give information about

what itʼs like to work at Comcast and what to

expect. Throughout the site we used photography

to tell the story of the work culture. The Careers

website is more than just a job search tool. We

designed it to be a reference for anything career

related at Comcast.

Diversity.png
Diversity & Inclusion

Comcast has made a commitment to

creating a diverse and inclusive

environment. We wanted to show this

dedication throughout the design. The

point is to invite people of all backgrounds

to apply.

Location, Location, Location

For the actual job search we created a feature

where the user can search for jobs by location

using a map. Currently the job search tool is only for people seeking employment in the United States. When hovering over a State a pop-up appears showing the number of job openings in that state and number of locations. When clicking on the highlighted state, the user is transported to the Job Search tool with Job Openings from that state already filtered. States in gray have zero job openings.  The user also has the option to select a state from a dropdown menu to filter jobs for that

state in the Job Search Tool.

Commuter Friendliness

Within the Job Search tool, we created a feature that allows a user to search for jobs based on how much they are willing to commute. The user enters their starting or home location, then they select the maximum time they would commute and their preferred mode of transportation. The tool then filters jobs based on these preferences.

Job Search

For the Job Search results, we wanted to keep

them minimal and provide only the necessary

information, like the position title, location,

category, and the ability to apply. In the list of

results, each entry is expandible and collapsible

to see a preview of the job description for the

role. When the user selects the position they

are interested in, they can view the full job

description.
